This site is the landing area for the domain "hardypansy.com",
one of a number of personal domains currently
leased and managed by Greg Howard who resides in Ithaca, NY
with his husband Bill and two adopted dogs -
Barney (our beagle) and Freddy (our rat terrier).
Yes, i'm gay and I happen to love to hike and this site contains photos from some of my favorite destinations. So why hardy pansy? hardy [hahr-dee] adj. daring, brave, rugged, courageous, resolute; confident; capable of enduring fatigue, hardship, exposure, difficult conditions; robust. pansy [pan-zee] noun slang for a gay man. The expressions "hardy pansy" and "hardy pansies" came about during an exchange with an online buddy of mine who, like myself, was gay and enjoyed outdoor adventures/activities. He also loved attending flower shows and mentioned going to one and enjoying a big display of pansies (which as above can be used to denote gay men). So we joked about being pansies, but hardy pansies! I couldn't resist creating a couple domains to memorialize the expressions, hence the birth of: hardypansy.com hardypansies.org
